DVD Storage Units Can Be a Help to You.

January 4th, 2010 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

There’s wood, metal, gold and even platinum DVD storage units out there – the question is, what kind do you need? That’s a question that I’ll be happy to help you answer, or at least get your thinking about what answer is best for your situation and your needs. The first question is capacity. How much do you need a DVD storage unit to hold? 20 or 30 discs or several hundred, even several thousands maybe? Not all DVD storage units are built to handle the same number of discs so you need to know what to look for upfront. This is why we like DVD Storage Rack Solutions.

Some DVD storage units are units are built to only handle 30 to 50 movies. Some times that’s just right for your needs and wall mounted DVD storage racks make browsing through your selection a breeze. If however you require more storage you should definitely give some of the DVD storage cabinets on the market a serious consideration. You can hold several hundred and up to several thousand discs in these without a problem. They are also fully customizable to fit whatever needs you may have.

So did you figure out your capacity needs? I hope so because the next element to consider is the amount of room you have in the home theater room that you will be using. Since we know that there are two basic categories for DVD storage furniture, we will then be able to deduce from your space limitations which direction you should go. Are you limit on the amount of floor space you have? Then use a wall mounted DVD storage rack. If you have a lot of room to work with, a beautiful DVD storage cabinet would be better. Pretty simple stuff right? Now get out there and start looking!

Well hello everyone and I’m glad that you made it back to another installment in our short series of articles on DVD storage racks and other DVD storage solutions for you home and needs. In the past we have talked about what you should look for when buying a DVD rack and how you should evaluate what kind of solution that you should use in your home. That’s we suggest DVD Storage Rack Solutions. In today’s article we are going to go over the best uses for a DVD rack, as it is often the most common DVD storage solution found in most homes today. They come in a number of varieties but wall hung DVD racks almost always are made out of metal or wood, with some being made from glass even. These are so popular because of the amount of floor space they save their users while still providing an excellent amount of storage capacity and ease of use. For those of us with limited amount of room to work with, saving floor space is a huge benefit and should never be discounted as merely a minor advantage. Because of that, these racks will be the focus of our discussion today and hopefully you will walk away with some great ideas that you can put to work in your home.

The initial step you need to make is to decide how you are going to use you DVD rack. Does most of the furniture in that room stand more vertical or do you have a lot of horizontal surfaces in that room? If you have a lot of vertical objects in the room, and a lot of the furniture stands very vertically, than you will want this to transition over to how you use your DVD storage racks. Now, if you have a lot of surfaces in your room that are very short and horizontal, you will want to barrow this design aspect as well in how you lay out your DVD rack. However, in the case of horizontal dominance it’s not as critical to maintain this uniformity as it is with rooms that have a lot of vertical dominance. Horizontal surfaces are much more forgiving of having vertical surfaces next to them, where a vertically dominated room almost always dictates that you will need to maintain a vertical flow throughout the room. So with that in mind, let’s talk more about how we are going to mount your new DVD storage rack so that it looks appropriate in your home.

So let’s get down to the business of talking about spacing and it’s affect on the appearance of your room and furniture overall. Since most people get a DVD rack to help them organize their digital media collection you will want to use one in the way which best suits this purpose. Fortunately there is a large body of professional interior designers out there that have conducted a large amount of research to determine what the best spacing is to accomplish this. The best part is that what they found is actually very easy to achieve in most cases.

The great advantage here for us is that we can use the information that others have already found from the studies they conducted to benefit our home improvement projects. The rules they established are very basic. If you are going to be using vertically aligned DVD storage racks, you will want to leave about 4 inches in between the widest point of either DVD rack. That means that if the movies extend past the width of the rack, than you will make that 4 inch measurement from the end of the DVD case itself and not the rack. When it comes to horizontally aligned DVD storage racks, about 10 inches in between the racks is considered the ideal distance. So now you should know what you need to to get started on your new home improvement project.

Howdy folks. You are probably reading this because much like me, you may require a little help organizing you DVD’s, Blu-Rays, or just about any other digital media kind you can think of. I know that I suffered from a lack of skill and natural ability when it came to keeping little things like these sorted and presentable. The fact is that metal DVD storage racks are great for helping you do just that. My girlfriend was pulling her hair out when we moved into together because of the chaos that my home theater was in and she showed me a couple different ways to use metal DVD storage racks to get things straightened up. Let’s talk more about DVD Storage Units

If you have limitations on your floor space, you should probably consider free standing metal DVD storage racks. They are simply the best bang for the floor-space buck when it comes to storage. The reason is that their base is very small, while their capacities can be very highly, up to several hundred discs in some cases. They are also great for combining several elements such as furniture that clashes due to one piece being very tall and slender while another piece is short and squat. Using vertical DVD storage racks can help you blend those two factors together and create a more even flow of space in your room.

Now perhaps you will notice yourself in a similar position to the circumstances in my theater room. All of our furniture is very low to the ground to create a relaxed atmosphere and tone. If you like that type of warmth in your room, wall hung metal DVD storage racks may be the very best option you will realize. They take up very little floor space and let you display your assortment of DVD’s while also keeping them organized and protected. Talk about a win-win solution. That’s why I love my DVD Storage Rack.

The average person goes furniture shop and never even considers their requirement for DVD storage furniture and cabinets when making their choices. It’s very common and you shouldn’t feel out of place if you are such a person yourself. Luckily, there’s people who love interior design out there that will get you started on the right path towards getting the DVD storage furniture that you require. Your first consideration needs to be how a lot room you have to work with. If you don’t have a lot of space, shorter DVD storage cabinets may be a perfect fit for you. Let’s talk more about DVD Storage Units

Now we come down to what the DVD storage cabinets are meant for and that’s storage space. One thing that you must bare in mind while selecting DVD storage furniture is that you not only have to keep what you have no, but what you may need to store later. It’s for that reason that some people buy huge hardwood DVD storage cabinets, even thought they only have a couple hundred discs. They know what you should keep in mind, and that buying one cabinet up front is often better than having to buy multiple over the course of time. That’s why I love my DVD Storage Rack.

The last topic for consideration that I’m going to cover is quality. I realize that when it comes to DVD storage cabinets, there’s two groups and no in between. If you are look for high quality hardwood DVD storage cabinets, you can notice them. You can get them with gold and platinum attachments and fully optioned with velvet and leather lining. However, if that’s not your flavor I would highly suggest you completely avoid lower quality DVD storage cabinets. If you price point is lower, constantly go with a range of hanging or standing DVD storage racks. The reason is that the cabinets that are made out of inferior materials simply fall apart and that doesn’t help anyone. So hopefully you have some thoughts now to go out and start looking.

Have you every thought about owning a high quality handcrafted hardwood DVD storage cabinet? I know that when the topic of DVD storage cabinets comes up there is usually one of two main reactions. The first greatest common is that some people don’t even know such a thing exists. The second maximum common reaction is that they think of them as being odd metal DVD storage cabinets, like a foot locker almost. Well, neither is truly true as you can get them optioned with a wide array of features that will add warmth to just about any room. Let’s talk more about DVD Storage Units

In fact, this ability to totally customize your hardwood DVD storage cabinets is what sets them apart from other pieces of furniture that you may own. Usually when you go shopping for furniture, you might have a choice of material and color, which is fine in most cases. However when talking about an after thought like DVD storage cabinets, that flexibility is truly a requirement. The biggest tip I give to maximum shoppers is to get a combination of hardwood DVD storage cabinets that blend with both the elements of your existing furniture and the modern styling of your home theater equipment to “Blend” the two together. That’s why I love my DVD Storage Rack.

There’s other designer tips that you should be aware of while shopping for metal or hardwood DVD storage cabinets. The first of these that you need to be aware of is to make sure anything you order does no have a laminate finish. These can separate from the wood over time and look truly bad. Also try to stay away from any attachments that are “Plated,” “Rolled,” or “Filled.” The surface finish will wear away with time and also leave you with a highly devalued piece of furniture.

Organization I found with DVD Storage Racks

Does the concept of organizing you DVD’s seem like a vague and foreign concept to you? I know it does to me and that created a bit of an issue for my girlfriend and I once we moved in together. She’s very organized and I’m about the farthest thing from it. I’d have to say that this really tends to be the case when it comes to things that I do in my down time. Movies that I watch, or games that I play just seem to land and stay everywhere throughout the entertainment room. I always thought that I would hate a DVD Storage Rack.

Of course, my lovely better half wouldn’t tolerate this for long. She soon got DVD storage racks for me to keep my movies and games in. While at first, I absolutely rejected the idea, there are some things that DVD storage racks are actually good for. Don’t tell anyone that I admitted that but yes, I found a use for organizing them. And not just one, but a couple. So here’s the top 3 reasons I found for keeping them organized. DVD Storage Units were a great investment for me!

1. DVD storage rack let you friends scan through and notice movies that they would like to watch without your having to suffer the embarrassment of not being able to notice a movie or disc that you require.

2. DVD storage racks actually helped me enjoy my own games and movies when I don’t have the time to hunt and peck for them. Now, I might be a little odd, but I like to play games online just before work. Something about it helps me get through the day at my job, but since I’m continuously rushing I typically don’t have more than a half hour to do that. So every minute I save is another minute of game time. Victory!

3. The final reason that rounds out my top 3 on my list for now liking DVD storage racks is that I haven’t screwed up a movie or game since having gotten them. They help me to protect my rather considerable investment since there’s virtually no risk of cracking them in half by accidentally stepping on them in the middle of the night. That’s a big benefit that I never truly thought about before having sat down to write this.

Sorting tips with DVD Storage Racks

DVD storage cabinets are the clear winner when looking at the variety of DVD storage furniture on the open retail market today. Their storage capacity and range remain unparalleled. They can be built to hold anything from smaller CD jewel cases all the way up to full sized Sega-CD thick jewel cases. In addition to the variety of case styles they can hold, the sheer quantity is unmatched. A full dresser designed DVD storage cabinet will be able to enclose thousands of discs without breaking a sweat. But that’s not the only reason they are the top contender when it comes to DVD storage furniture. This makes a good arguement for a DVD Storage Rack.

DVD storage cabinets come made with several optional door styles that you can use. Of course, you would like a selection when it comes to door styles because DVD storage cabinets should function as a piece of functional furniture. That means that you should not get DVD storage cabinets that have doors which will swing or open into existing doorways, or hit other things such as walls and speakers when they do open. The rule here is to consider your room’s layout before committing to a purchase. This is also the case with DVD Storage Units as well.

DVD storage cabinets typically come with a rather lengthy list of choices for you to select from when deciding which piece makes the greatest sense for you. This is because you should strive to have all of your interior furniture pieces match and “Flow” together if you will. Since greatest people often think about DVD storage furniture last, most manufacturers of high end DVD storage cabinets leave the door open on options purposefully. They will generally let you not only pick what kind of wood they are made from, but the stain and the tone of the wood stain as well. Literally, it is nearly impossible to run out of options when it comes to DVD storage cabinets.

Of course, while that is all great the options don’t stop there. You can typically select what material and finish the attachments will come in as well. This can often mean that you will be able to select from materials such as platinum and gold as well as if you want them in a machined or polished finish. The locks and latches will all generally follow suit as well. And of course the inside of DVD storage cabinets are also up for change. Suede, leather and velvet are all common materials to find lining the inside of upper level DVD storage cabinets as well. Pretty nice stuff if you ask me.
